Catherine Anne Fox Thing-link

Hello bloggers,
This week we have been finding information about WW1. We had to choose a person
and create a Thing link about them. A Thing link is a site where we can put information into
text boxes and when you hover over the text box it will show the information. So here is a picture of my Thing-link...

Writing Week 9 Term 1 2017

Kia Ora Everyone,
For the last couple of weeks we have been working on our narratives that was about our
mythical creature we drew. So here is my story...

Title-     Captain Bumble B                                     Name- Lani
Brainstorm
Characters: Chimera: Devil-spear, Captain Bumble B
Long, long ago in the land of Minwa there sat an old tin castle perched on the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere.  There was one brave person living in it called Captain Bumble B. Captain Bumble B had wide yellow and black stripes on her back and she was the bravest hero of all time. She had one enemy to fight and his name was Devil-spear. Whenever he was coming to this old tin castle the clouds changed colour into a deep, dark grey. This was a warning for Captain Bumble B to be prepared!
One day, Captain Bumble B decided to go exploring in the green-shaded forest. Walking alone was scary for her but she was prepared. The next minute Devil- Spear flew over the top of her, locked her in his wrinkly arms and dumped her into a cage. She shouted, “HELP!”  Her voice echoed in the clear blue sky.

After a couple of hours screaming to the blank sky a crazy woodpecker came to rip apart the cage. She babbled, “Thank you! Thank you!” and took off into the forest to make her way back to her tin castle.
By the time she got home it had started to snow so Captain Bumble B made a hot cup of cocoa and went to check on her magical shapeshifting pet pug who was in hibernation. She stroked the sleeping creature and murmured gently to it, “Well, I wonder what you will transform into next time?  It’s getting close to your wake up time and each time you do this you are more miraculous than you were before.I think I will just carry you around with me for the rest of the day.” Then, she hitched the backpack on and sat down and read a magazine. She was having a great time until…
Devil- Spear had reached her castle once again. He whizzed in and locked her in his wrinkly arms again. Poor Captain Bumble B was shivering this time, worrying so much that she fainted, waking up inside a big net in an underground cave with shimmering diamonds covering the black smoky wall.

Luckily, Captain Bumble B had a crew who made sure she was OK each day and they noticed she was missing. They made their way upstairs to make sure she was okay.  They knocked on the door and when there was no answer they made their way into the room. They realised that she had been missing all night… They set off into the forest and started to look for her. They had a G.P.S that told them where she was.

They saw a black shadow whizz past them and they looked upwards, too late! It was  Devil-Spear and he trapped them all in  another big net and dumped them in his hideout next to Captain Bumble B. Then, Captain Bumble B remembered she had a pocket knife so she cut the net and escaped. Just as she got out of the strong net she realised that Devil-Spear had just flown into the underground hideout so she hid behind his giant teapot. Bing! Bong! A giant spoon clashed on top of the teapot as Devil-spear pottered about making  himself a nice cup of tea.

Beep! beep! Captain Bumble B’s watch beeped to tell her it was nearly her bedtime, letting Devil-Spear know there was someone hiding in the room. Captain Bumble B put on a brave face and stepped up to the creature and he boomed, “Why are you out of your net?” Captain Bumble B didn’t say anything but counted to three, ran through his legs and used her skills to stab her knife into his red wrinkly back. Her crew cheered, “Hip hip hooray for Captain Bumble B!”  But…..Devil-Spear had respawned...
He stabbed his scaly legs into Captain Bumble B, but her crew raced over to her and cheered her on and whispered with tears, “You can do this Captain Bumble B, believe in yourself!” She stood up once again and was fighting but she was very tired now. All of a sudden, SPROIINNGG!  Captain Bumble B’s magic pet pug woke up from its sleep in her backpack. He had transformed into a giant griffin. He leapt to her defence. WWHHOOOUUUMPH!! Huge wings unfurled with a sound as loud as thunder and his eyes flashed like lightning!  Captain Bumble B screamed, “Go away, Devil-Spear! You know you don’t want to mess with me! Look what friends I have!”
“You win this time, Captain Bumble B!” said Devil-Spear, ‘But this is just one battle and you and I are at war. I will be back!!”

And that is why we have thunder and lightning  on Earth. It is a sign that Captain Bumble B and her friends are still battling Devil-Spear.
