Writing 2016
Kia ora
Here is the recount I wrote for an Asttle writing test in Week 4. Our teacher marked all our recounts and gave us our scores. Mine came out at Level 2a which is just below the end of year standard for Year Five. I got the worst marks for punctuation and the best marks for sentence structure.
We helped each other improve them by reading each other’s recount and talking about them. We also used Revision Assistant to help edit each other’s story and Mrs B added some notes as well. Everyone in our room likes Revision Assistant because it’s easy to understand the marks/ notes that it puts on your writing and so it’s quick for us to go and do the fix-ups. We have to make the punctuation, grammar and spelling correct before we are allowed to publish them here. I hope someone will give me some feedback.

“Dadddd, we need to go and get the bikes!” I shouted. “Yes,Lani, I’m coming,” answered Dad.
Dad came racing out the door like he had been getting chased by an old Grandma with a fly swatter! Me and Georgia raced around the veranda to get our bikes. “Dad, do you want me to get your bike for you?” I asked.
“No, it’s fine” Dad replied.
“Ohhhhh, Dad I can’t get my bike seat to the right height!” I shouted.
“Ok Lani, I am coming…Ok your
Bike seat is done. Let’s go now.”
“Yeah we’re all ready,”Mum clucked.
“Wow, this is a really bumpy road,” I said as we made our way to the bike track. “Yay we’re finally here!” I said as we parked and unloaded our bikes…
“Ok, come on then,” Mum chuckled.
“Look Mum, there's a bridge.Can I go over it?” I asked.
“Yeah, of course you can,”she answered. Me, Dad and Kaleb raced over the bridge and Georgia and Mum went underneath the bridge. Then we all met at the top of the hill. “Ah ha!”Where’s Kaleb gone?” Mum asked.
“He raced ahead, he’s up there somewhere,” Dad replied.Wow! Look at the big hill we have to go down. Come on, Dad!” Weeeeeee!Ha ha, that was fun!”I screeched, Yeah, you're gonna be going up some hills about that big as well!” teased Dad. A long time later, I could say “Look Dad, there's our car! Yay! We’re finally back at the truck.” I felt so exhausted!
